Topic: Social Business

Speaker: Laurie Loew, Give Realty

Beyond the Bottom Line - the professional and personal benefits of creating a business model that benefits others. Social business models are redefining business by creating value beyond dollars and cents. Laurie will discuss the pros and cons of creating this type of business model and the difference between “social objectives” and “social purpose” within the model. Laurie is the founder of Give Realty, a socially innovative boutique real estate brokerage of two agents that has donated more than $79,000 to 38 different nonprofits in less than two years of business. Laurie has found the rewards to be immeasurable and is fueled by her passion to teach others about social good and its potential to transform your business and life. Laurie is the 9th of 10 children, and was born with entrepreneurial blood in her veins. Both sets of grandparents, her parents and all her siblings have all bootstrapped their own businesses! In April 2010 she was honored with the 2010 Ethics in Business Award in the individual category, is a member of Austin Women Entrepreneurs, and a subgroup co-lead of Bootstrap Austin.

About RISE Global

RISE is a non-profit program dedicated to inspiring and empowering entrepreneurs. Created originally in 2007 by Roy and Bertrand Sosa as a week-long, free “un-conference” for- and by- entrepreneurs in Austin, Texas, RISE has now grown into an ongoing annual program that leverages its proprietary web interface to provide one-of-a-kind resources and experiences to entrepreneurs worldwide for free.

RISE is unique in that combines both high-tech and high-touch programming. The cornerstone of RISE has been an annual “un-conference” in which seasoned entrepreneurs and experts volunteer to host small-group sessions on any topic of their choice at any location of their choice throughout the city.

Beginning in November 2010 RISE officially migrated from its original format as an Austin-centered conference to a year-round international program dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs. By investing in the development of a sophisticated technology platform, RISE is able to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas between entrepreneurs with a speed and scale that would be impossible in-person. RISE is continuing to grow its year-round programming, including more small-group sessions, an expanded “RISE Edu” program for entrepreneurs of all ages and stages, entrepreneur membership groups, and additional professional events like the Fast Pitch and Funding Forums.

With four years of successful programming in Austin, Texas RISE is now preparing for replication and scale.

Topic: The Holy Grail! (The Real Deal of Licensing Your Product)

Speaker: Stephen Key

This isn’t going to be some Monty Python skit with medieval characters hopping around, clacking coconuts.

As so many of you already know, Stephen Key, co-founder of www.InventRight.com , is THE expert when it comes to licensing a product. Any size, any industry, he is the MAN!

Coming to us, all the way from California, to share his knowledge on the one thing that just about every inventor considers the Holy Grail of their efforts. Nothing could be better then a good licensing deal and he is the man to show you how it is done. He has licensed over 20 products in the last 30 years. Holding over 12 patents, having had his products in Wal-Mart, the Disney Stores and 7/11, he doesn’t just talk the talk.

However, he IS called upon to do interviews and give his expert opinions in various newspapers, magazines, books and on TV with the likes of Donny Deutsch and “Dr. Phil”. Mr. Key was also one of the keynote speakers at a recent USPTO Independent Inventors Conference. I personally saw his presentation there and thought it was one of the best I had ever seen.

Those of you who follow his website know Stephen to be a hands on, no frills, down to earth guy. He fits the budget to the project and tries to keep costs to a minimum because he knows how frugal we inventors need to be.
